Every baby deserves their first and every interaction with those around them to be positive. Unfortunately, in Eeyore's first two years of life he has the wisdom that no dog, nor human for that matter, should ever know. Eeyore was seized from a cruelty case - 50% of his hair missing, the tips of his ears cut off, wedges sliced out of the remaining parts of his ears, scabs covering his body. This young boy looks like a very old man for what he went through. Yet, he is a lesson to us all in trust and forgiveness. Upon coming into my home he gave me warning growls when I would pass him by, but I just gave him his space - I didn't know what all he had been through or felt and I wanted our contact to be on his terms. By day 2 he asked me to pet him, showing me his belly. By day 3 he was dancing for me on his hind legs, begging to be picked up! All he wants to do is love and be loved. I've known him for less than a week and the old soul in these puppy eyes has taught me volumes.

This freckle-faced stray found himself unclaimed at animal control & at risk of euthanasia until rescued by CRU. Howdy is very nice, is good with other dogs & cats but would do best in a home without children. Howdy is crate & leash trained. Howdy does not like to go to the doctor or have his nails trimmed but he does love to roll over on his back for chest rubs, go riding in the car, take a bath & explore the yard. Rudy is ok with other dogs and cats but needs an experienced Chi/dog owner and a home without children due to his being mouthy when very excited. Update 7/24/08 - Wow, is all we can say. In just a short month Hermie has had a complete change of both personality and health diagnosis. Due to having such horrible dental issues we had a dental done on him shortly after he came to us. A month and 6 teeth less later he is a bouncy, happy, playful little man whose heart murmer has been down graded to just a gallop. He is a total joy to have around the house and a wonderful snuggle buddy. Hermie is such a needy little soul. Frightened and confused by the turn of events in his life, he has no idea who to trust anymore. Unfortunately although CRU can do many things for this boy to return him to a save and healthy life, we can not do anything about the fact that he was diagnosised with a grade 4/5 heart murmer. We do not know how many years sweet little Hermie may have left, but we do know that we intend to make them the happiest years of his life. Hermie is available for adoption but will need to go to a home that is comfortable with his medical condition and also that is quiet and very loving. No children or large dogs for Hermie please.

Carmello is a Chihuahua who came from an ill breeder who could no longer care for her numerous dogs. Carmello is timid but not aggressive, barks at and stays away from new people. Due to his shyness, Carmello must go to an adult only home with a securely fenced yard. Once Carmello gets to know you he is loving and attentive, likely to be a one-person dog and not readily accepting of strangers. Housebreaking continues to be a challenge and most likely will never be achieved 100%. He loves to be picked up so he can give you kisses and gnaw on your nose. Reggie was found by a lady in Dayton who was kind enough to travel 4 hrs to bring him to me. Ol' Regg settled right into his foster home making his way down to the kennel and the barn as he helped with the chores. He's a perfect gentleman and quiet as a mouse. At night he'll jump in bed and sleep against your back under the covers. Other dogs, cats, horses, geese - he's cool with all of them. He was already neutered when found so we're getting him ready for his first trip to the vet and he'll be good to go! UPDATE: Reggie's teeth were alot worse off than thought - he had a total of 13 pulled! I told him the Tooth Fairy doesn't carry that much cash on her and to just put a few at a time under his pillow. The nice thing about Reg is that he's not pesty if you're eating. Loves to go for walks and rides in the car. Now how can you resist those crinkled up ears???

Update: Butters is doing sooo great at her foster home. She hardly shows her teethies ever, and when she does it is usually b/c the other dogs are touching her or trying to play with her. She is a one dog family kinda gal, but with people, she is just a love. She is soooo sweet and such a ham, she makes us laugh all day long! She loves to sit on our laps, snuggle, give kisses, and roll around on our laps. If you are looking for a lap dog who is sweet and so funny, Butteball is the best! She would do best as the only dog. And you must have at least one lap available b/c she wants to lay on it and snuggle 24 hours a day!!!! Butters jumps so high, and gets sooo excited for attention, she even nudges your hand and begs for more! I came into rescue a total mess. Somebody had dipped me in motor oil - maybe they thought I had mange - but really it was just hair loss due to flea allergies. My bald back was covered in scabs and blisters, and my front teeth had been knocked out. My foster mom bathed me 3 times trying to get the oil off my skin, but my scabs starting coming off and my skin was getting raw. She rubbed ointment on me and hugged me. I growled and showed her my teeth. For the first couple weeks I didn't know what to think of the affection. I couldn't tell if she was being sweet - I just waited for her to hurt me, sure that it was all a trick. Now I can't wait for hugs and kisses! I jump and bark for her attention and try to run up her leg into her arms. I still growl and show my teeth, but I don't mean it, and she kisses my face anyway. When she stops, I nudge her for more love. I may always growl, just so you know that if you try and hurt me I'll fight back - I gotta be a tough girl. But my foster mom loves me and my silly ways, and I love her too. She says her job is to show me that I can trust people, to make me a happy dog and then find somebody that will love me like she does forever and ever. I'm very unsure, but I'm willing to give it a shot, because secretly I do trust my foster mom and her judgement - but don't tell anybody!! And now, that I realize my foster parents are nice, and won't hurt me, I almost never show my teethies at all! I LOVE to snuggle and get my belly rubbed. I love cuddling, and am the BEST lap dog! My foster mom lets me go outside to do my "business" and I'm very good about not leaving messes inside. I'm searching for a good forever home that will love and care for me. Is your home the one?

Poor Lydia has come into rescue after being removed from horrible conditions. Having lived most of her life in a home with many, many other animals and without proper care, she is very unsure of how to act. Her foster mom is working with her daily to help her understand what it means to be a pet and be loved. It will take time before Lydia will learn to trust anyone.

My foster mom has started calling me "Mr. Bogart" because of the way I stick out my chest and cock my head to the side. I am improving a lot in the having a home thing. I am a Big Boy and boy do I know it. I still run from you till I get to know you. I have started coming out of my crate a lot more. If you take me outside, I will go to the potty. If I am in my crate I will stand up on the side of the door and bark if I have to go out. I have this cute little quirk where, when I finish going potty, I stick my legs out of the back of my body one at a time. Hey, a big boy like me needs to stretch. I am still a little skittish (but I never bite!!) when you pick me up but have come a long way according to my foster mom. I would be better off with someone who lives alone or with a quiet couple that can spend the one on one time I need so I can trust humans more than I have already. No children, please, as little hands make me nervous. Give me a home and I will show you just how big I can be.

Cissy is 14 years old, not a young dog. She is adorable though she has cataracts and I think that since she doesn't see well, sometimes when she catches sudden movements she tends to bark. She doesn't have any major medical issues either. She will definitely need to be adopted by someone with no small children. She does tend to be a one person dog, and likes to be near her foster mom a lot, though not necessarily on her lap, simply up against her. Cissy would be best with few or no other dogs. She is kind of past the rambunctious stage.

My name is Cocoa and I am an 8yr old chi-doxie mix. I had a good life with my previous owner until he was taken away from me by the military. Yes he had to go off without me and I was very sad.
